Company Background
We specialise in making furniture from our own Scottish hardwoods; the magnificent Elm, a wood of striking grain pattern and deep colour; Yew - red heartwood contrasting with creamy ivory coloured sapwood. Cherry, Sycamore, Oak, Beech and Maple all have their own beauty and character and are cherished by our craftsmen.
Riverwood furniture can also be crafted from imported timbers including American Light Oak, Ash and exotic Black Walnut.
Where does our timber come from? An important question - all timber, by law, must come from sustainable managed forests. Local Scottish hardwoods will come from two sources. The main source are large managed estates where coppicing and selective felling is desirable for the health of the forest. The second source is reclaimed timber that has been felled for development or road building, usually by local authorities.
Our portfolio at Riverwood varies greatly. From small lampstands and mirrors to banquet tables, and includes fitted furniture such as kitchens and workstations. All are unigue and have interest and beauty.
Here the clients input is welcome, we work with your ideas and imagination to design and build unique and beautiful furniture, which will enhance and grace your home.
Whether your commision is for a small coffee table or a larger statement piece, your furniture will be made by artisans who are sympathetic to the timber, its physical properties, nature and character of the wood.
